1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading Oasis, joining the waitlist, or using any part of our service, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use Oasis.

These terms apply to the Oasis macOS application and website (oasis.app). They form a binding agreement between you and the Oasis team ("we," "us," "our").

If you're using Oasis on behalf of an organization, you're agreeing to these terms on that organization's behalf.

2. Beta Software Disclaimer

Specifically, you acknowledge that:

• The AI classification may misroute emails — always verify important correspondence in The Ledger (⌘L)
• The local database may occasionally need to be rebuilt from IMAP sync
• Features described in marketing materials may not yet be available in the current build
• We may push updates that change the interface, behavior, or data format
• We may discontinue the beta or individual features with reasonable notice

That said, we take data integrity seriously. The SQLite database is designed for durability (WAL mode, referential integrity), and we have never experienced data loss. But beta software is beta software — keep backups of any email you cannot afford to lose through your email provider's web interface.

3. License

Subject to these terms and payment of any applicable fees, we grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to install and use Oasis on Mac computers you own or control.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the Oasis application or its source code (unless it has been made open source)
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
• Use the application to build a competing product
• Sublicense or sell access to the application
• Share your beta access with others (each user should request their own)

Founder Lifetime License

If you purchase the Founder tier, your license is perpetual for the version of Oasis Core available at your time of purchase, and includes all future updates to Oasis Core. The Founder license is personal and non-transferable. We reserve the right to verify that Founder licenses are being used by the original purchaser.

4. Permitted Use

Oasis is designed for personal and professional email management. You may use it to:

• Access and read your own email accounts via IMAP
• Reply to and compose emails via SMTP
• Use AI features to classify and summarize your own email
• Search your email using semantic and keyword search
• Organize and manage your own inbox

During the beta, Oasis is for personal use and small teams only. Enterprise deployment (more than 10 users in a single organization) requires contacting us first.

5. Prohibited Uses

You may not use Oasis to:

• Access email accounts you do not own or have explicit permission to access
• Send bulk or commercial email in violation of CAN-SPAM, GDPR, or other applicable laws
• Harvest or scrape email addresses for marketing purposes
• Automate sending emails without human approval of each message
• Violate the terms of service of your email provider
• Use the application for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to access, tamper with, or disrupt our servers or infrastructure
• Circumvent security measures in the application

Violation of these terms may result in immediate termination of your beta access without refund.

6. Email Account Access

By adding an email account to Oasis, you grant the application permission to:

• Connect to your email provider via IMAP and read your emails
• Send emails on your behalf via SMTP
• Store a local copy of your emails in the Oasis SQLite database on your Mac
• Process email content locally using the AI pipeline you've configured

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to access the email accounts you add. If you add a shared or organizational inbox, you represent that you have authorization from the account owner and your organization.

We recommend using app-specific passwords (available from most email providers) rather than your main account password. This limits Oasis's access and lets you revoke it without changing your main password.

7. AI Behavior and Accuracy

Oasis uses artificial intelligence to classify, summarize, and route your emails. You acknowledge that:

• AI classification is not perfect. The AI may miscategorize emails, including routing important correspondence to the Kiosk or vice versa. Always check The Ledger (⌘L) if you're waiting for a critical email.
• AI summaries are condensed interpretations. They are not substitutes for reading the full email in situations where precision matters. Always read the original for contracts, legal matters, or medical information.
• AI learns from corrections. When you reclassify an email, that correction is stored locally and affects future routing. You're in control of what the AI learns.
• We are not responsible for AI-induced actions. If you act on an AI summary that turned out to be incomplete or inaccurate, that's a limitation of AI technology, not negligence on our part.

8. Subscription & Payment

Beta Period

During the private beta, Oasis may be available at no charge or at a reduced price. Beta pricing is subject to change when the product reaches general availability. Beta users will receive reasonable advance notice of any pricing changes.

Paid Tiers

When Oasis moves to paid tiers (Core and Pro), the following terms apply:

• Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as chosen at signup
• Payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe or similar); we do not store card details
• Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled
• You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• We do not offer refunds for partial months, except where required by law

Founder Tier

The $299 Founder lifetime pass is a one-time payment that grants lifetime access to Oasis Core (no monthly fee, ever). We offer a 30-day refund window for the Founder tier if you're unsatisfied after installing and using the app.

Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices with 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified by email and given the option to cancel before any price change takes effect.

9. No Warranty

Oasis is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantees about:

• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• AI classification accuracy or summary quality
• Compatibility with all email providers or macOS versions
• Data integrity (though we work hard to ensure it)
• Continuous availability of specific features

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Oasis and its team shall not be liable for:

• Loss of data, emails, or business resulting from use of the application
• Decisions made based on AI summaries that turn out to be inaccurate
• Unauthorized access to your email account by parties other than Oasis
• Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Loss of profits or revenue

In any case, our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of Oasis shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. If you're on a free beta tier, our liability is $0 — which is why we strongly recommend not relying on beta software for mission-critical workflows.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify beta users by email.

Your continued use of Oasis after a terms update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with a change, you may stop using Oasis and, if applicable, cancel your subscription.

We aim to be transparent about changes. We won't silently add surprise clauses — significant changes will be called out explicitly in the notification email.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

If you're located in the EU, you may also have rights under GDPR and local consumer protection laws that supersede these terms where applicable. Our Privacy Policy addresses data handling under GDPR to the extent applicable.
